evo2009

And, we’re done! The dust has settled on the 2009 Evo (fighting game) Championships in Vegas, and a winner has emerged. That winner? None other than Street Fighting legend Daigo “The Beast” Umehara.

A few readers were at the event, and pinged us to let us know that he defeated long-time adversary Justin Wong at Street Fighter IV in the final. The victory follows on from Daigo’s win over Wong, the US champ, at the recent World Street Fighter IV finals, so yeah, guy’s on a hot streak right now.

tales

Former Xbox 360 exclusive Tales of Vesperia is coming to the PS3 in Japan later this year. But it might be coming to the English speaking world, too.

In the demo’s embedded code, English and Japanese descriptions of unused skills were found:

Gun Support /
- An inactive ally will occasionally attack with gun from outside the battlefield.
- Reduce physical damage during Magic Guard.
Flash /
- Nullified all enemy’s attack after doing a physical guard. Lasts for 3 sec only.
Flash 2 /
- Nullified all enemy’s attack after doing a magic guard. Lasts for 5 sec only.
Guardian 2 /
- Changes Crushing Eagle To SouBiRin.

English descriptions in a Japanese demo, that is. We’d be more surprised if Namco Bandai didn’t release an English language version.

While the game was announced earlier in the week in Japanese mag Famitsu, Valkyria Chronicle’s website wasn’t due to open until today. Now that it’s open, we’ve got our first screens of the PSP sequel.

His name is Hope Estheim. The white-haired boy did make an appearance in the E3 Final Fantasy XIII trailer, but thanks to this Japanese magazine article, we have more details about him.

Hope wields a boomerang as his weapon, and there is a bit of friction between the fiery tempered character and bandana dude Snow. In the FFXIII, Hope’s mother falls from a ruined bridge.
If you have played the demo like me you will know who the kid is 😛 but if not just wait it out till the game comes out.

So there you go.
